At EdiQ, your privacy and data security are our top priorities. This policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in compliance with global data protection standards.

1. Data Collection and Usage

We collect information to provide a streamlined, high-quality experience for our academic and vocational community:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and institutional affiliation provided during signup.
  • Service Data: Academic notes, tasks created in the Task Manager, user-submitted prompts, and messages sent within the platform.
  • Transaction Data: Details of service transactions conducted via the platform's job marketplace. Financial data is collected and processed securely by our third-party payment partners; EdiQ does not store raw credit card numbers on its servers.
  • Usage Analytics: Information about how you interact with our features to help us optimize the platform.

2. Device Permissions & Transparency

To provide full functionality, the EdiQ mobile application requests access to specific device features. These permissions are only used when explicitly triggered by your actions within the app:

Camera & Photos

Used for profile pictures, scanning physical documents, uploading job attachments, and media sharing in chats.

Microphone

Used exclusively for the audio-to-text AI study notes feature. Audio is only processed while you actively record; we never record audio in the background.

Storage & Files

Needed to upload PDFs, images, or documents for processing by the AI Study Assistant.

Notifications

Used to send alerts for task deadlines, system messages, and career/task matching opportunities.

3. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with third-party service providers when necessary to fulfill the core functions of the app. All third-party processors used by EdiQ are vetted to ensure they provide an equal or equal level of data protection as outlined in this policy.

  • AI Service Providers: Text prompts and documents uploaded for analysis, summary, or resume tailoring are processed securely via Anthropic (Claude AI). Only the context needed to generate the response is sent. Your personal identity (such as your email or account password) is never shared with the AI provider, and your data is explicitly NOT used to train their models.
  • Payment Processors: Financial transactions for physical services are encrypted and handled by PCI-DSS compliant partners. Digital subscription transactions are processed securely through the Billing system.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of our users and the community.

4. Account Deletion & Data Portability

In strict compliance with deletion mandates, you have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app interface.

Detailed Deletion Instructions

  • In-App Method: Log into the EdiQ mobile app, navigate to Settings / My Account, scroll to the bottom, and tap the red 'Delete Account' button.
  • Web/Support Method: You may also request data deletion by emailing our support team at digitcan.ng@gmail.com from your registered email address.

The 72-Hour Grace Period

Once a deletion request is submitted, your account enters a 72-hour grace period. During this time, your data is hidden from other users but is not yet permanently destroyed. After exactly 3 days (72 hours), all personal profiles, AI chat history, transaction history, and job postings will be permanently and irreversibly purged from our active databases.

How to Cancel Deletion

To cancel your deletion request and prevent data loss, simply log back into the EdiQ app within the 3-day (72-hour) grace period. Your request will be automatically voided, and your account data will remain intact.

Note for the Community: As part of the deletion process, we may ask for a brief reason for your departure. This feedback is optional but helps us improve the EdiQ experience for the entire network.

5. Security Measures

We use industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit and AES-256 encryption for data at rest. Our infrastructure is regularly monitored to protect against security vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, or data breaches.

6. Children's Privacy

EdiQ is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.

For any privacy-related questions or to exercise your data portability rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at digitcan.ng@gmail.com.
